Description

Internship at MUUM: What was it like to do an architectural internship in an agile working environment? Experience of Ediz.

Hello! My name is Ediz, and I am a newly graduated architect. This past July, I graduated as the top student of both my faculty and department from Yeditepe University. I am also actively pursuing a double major in Textile and Fashion. I joined MUUM as an intern architect in May.

My journey with MUUM began last year before I went abroad for my Erasmus internship. I spent six months working in Portugal at an office specializing in modular structures. Before leaving, I had the opportunity to meet Umut İyigün and present my portfolio to him. Upon my return, while working on my graduation project in my final semester, I officially became a part of the MUUM team.

Why MUUM? Because it is one of the rare offices that truly embodies what it designs in its practice, and it closely follows the technological advancements required by modern times. These aspects set MUUM apart from other architecture firms in my eyes.

During my five months at MUUM, I had the chance to work on different phases of projects. In my first couple of months, while working part-time alongside my studies, I contributed to redesigning the website and managing social media. Later, I became involved in various active projects, working on technical drawings and detail design while also attending construction site visits to gain hands-on experience in the production process. Throughout this journey, I was able to improve my skills in technical drawing, model-making, and different design methods.

If I were to describe MUUM in three words, I would say: sustainable, human-centered, and reliable. The experience I gained here has played a significant role in my professional development. I am grateful to the MUUM team for this opportunity.
